The best defences rule the roost

Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham with two clean sheets each along with Chelsea, Man U and WBA letting only one in dominate the top of the table with the exception of WBA who haven’t scored as yet although that could be rectified if Anelka actually comes back.

Our top managers seem to favour Mignolet in goal but Boruc is also quite popular, however other Liverpool defenders aren’t very popular at all. Not the case with the overall league leader who has no less than the full complement of Liverpool defenders in his team. Something for all of us there maybe?

Manager of the Week

What a week Nonstop Recruitment’s Jon Pheasant has had. Being based in Zurich obviously hasn’t hindered Jon’s knowledge of the EPL. Jon scored 90 points last week and followed it up with a super 71 points this week helped by a superb defence of Mignolet, Baines, Coleman and Ivanovic and some workmanlike performances from his front 3 of Dzeko, Soldado and Giroud.

Well done Jon and welcome to the league.

The Dreamteam

The Dreamteam is the best combination of players that you can pick that week. It’s always a good clue to up and coming players that few managers have picked which is important for those of you not in the top ten because you’re never going to make it by picking the same players as the top managers. Looking for value in unpopular but high performing players is essential if you’re going to make progress.

Despite the early doors nature of the current league tables there are some interesting players in this week’s dream team. How good was Frazier Campbell against City on Sunday and all for £5.5 million.

He could be a straight swap for those managers who went with Anelka and are maybe regretting it after the rumours that he has retired from the game for good. Or what about Southampton’s Jose Fonte? Does anyone fancy him to emulate his 2010-11 season with Southampton when he scored 7 goals and got 2 assists into the bargain? The centreback did used to play up front on occasions when he played for Palace!

Chelsea strikers

With The Special One fielding a starting lineup at Old Trafford without any strikers whatsoever, those of us who banked upon Lukaku being given a chance to show what he can do in a good team and Ba being given a chance to replicate his wonderful form at Newcastle have been bitterly disappointed. Jose has made his thoughts that none of them are any good quite clear. You only have to look at the minutes played stats after 3 games:

Torres 105, Ba 65 & Lukaku a mere 40 minutes on the pitch in 3 games.

Add that to Jose’s pursuit of Rooney and / or Eto’o and you will quickly agree that it’s time to ditch them all.

“I owe a lot to Tim, my first impressions of Rec2Rec agencies haven’t been good - and Tim has restored my faith that there are some good Rec2Recs who care about placing you in the right role. He listened to what I wanted and selected a few places to interview with; he would listen to what I wanted and always arranged calls to suit me. He has now placed me and it couldn’t be a better fit or opportunity for me and my career, I can not thank Tim and Futura enough.”
