Watch out for the short gameweeks?

The short gameweeks are nearly upon us with the weekend of February 20 taken up with FA Cup games and the following weekend having two fixtures cancelled because of the Capital One Cup Final between City and Liverpool. Just a couple of weeks later, gameweek 30 on March 12 could be literally wiped out if the Premiership teams still in the FA Cup play to form and defeat their lower rivals.

So not only have FPL managers got to look out for who they’re buying and how many games they may get out of them in the coming weeks, but they also have to deal with squad rotations. Will Aguero really play in all 11 of City’s games that they are scheduled to play in a 6-week window and that’s assuming that there’s not an FA Cup replay between City and Chelsea?

Liverpool have it even worse with 8 games in 4 weeks. Given that Klopp has little chance of making the Top 4 you’d think he’d be playing his better players in the two cups and the Europa League instead of the Prem.

March and April aren’t much better. Depending on how our sides in the Europa League get on, there’s 5 games in March and April alone plus the FA Cup weekend of March 12. The teams in the Champions League get away with one less.

With EPL games being pushed back for cup games, they have to be played at some time and that must be the end of March and during April. Keep a keen eye out for double gameweeks for these months and be prepared to play your Chips then to get most value out of them.

In our league, Bauhaus’s Ben Wilcox continues to hang on in first place despite a mediocre week. Good job the managers around him also had mediocre weeks with the common denominator being they all chose Aguero as their captain. They obviously hadn’t looked at Big Sam’s home record because although he doesn’t win many, its also quite rare that he lets in more than one at home.

The Top 10 are as follows:

Ben Wilcox, Bauhaus

Paul Cellini

Mike Bernard

Alan Furley

George Bartlett

Luis Cruz, ConSol Partners

Adam Grainger

Dave Cattell

Bartley Hilliam

Phil Dancey

Manager of the Week

Dave Cattell .......

The last time that Dave Cattell featured in the Top 10 was Week 13 and since then he’s done not a lot. But what a comeback. Dave’s not only gate-crashed the party but he’s done it in style breaking the ton along the way. With Kane (c) and Vardy in attack he’s racked up 39 points for them alone, but you have to admire how Liverpool fanatic Dave has out his tribal loyalties completely to one side and not only benched Moreno but Firmino as well. And who did he replace the midfielder-of-the-moment with? None other than Everton’s Ross Barkley who scored not one but two pens last night against Newcastle.

What a superb week Dave.

Andy Korczak......

When someone scores 95 points in a week like this one, you can almost predict their team – Kane (c), Vardy, Mahrez, Barkley, Alli, Cech etc etc and Arsenal fan Andy hasn’t disappointed us. It’s just a shame that he left 9-point Azpilicueta on the bench instead of zero-points Wollscheid or he really would have had a week to remember.

Time to take a leaf out of Dave Cattell’s book Andy and leave tribal loyalties at home!

The Best of the Rest

Keith Sammons .........

With a massive 95 points in 122nd place Keith Sammons. Keith has played his Bench Boost chip this week to a very good effect with his bench earning him an additional 23 points including 16 for Barkley alone. Obviously, Palace’s McCarthy wasn’t going to get him any points at all, but the boy has done good.

You know our thoughts though Keith. Chips are best saved for double gameweeks of which there will be plenty of coming up.

Taxi for...........

Boaz Myhill.......

Only 6 goalies have scored more FPL points than the Welsh Wizard. Only 5 have more clean sheets than the Baggies’ stopper. Only 4 are above him in the goalies value / form table. He’s owned by nearly 10% of all managers. And we’re telling you to sell him? Yes, that’s true. Unfortunately for Boaz, Ben Foster is back and he now has the shirt. As Bocelli and Brightman once sang, Time To, Say Goodbye...........

Get him binned!

One to watch..........

Wayne Rooney........

It seems incredible that the player United fans were calling to be dropped, sold, given away before Christmas is now the most in-form player in any position in the whole FPL. In his last 10 games of 2015 he only managed 22 points in total but since then he’s took off. Five goals and two assists have helped him towards a total of 45 points in five games. At a mere £10m, he’s cheaper than Costa and a massive £3.6m cheaper than Aguero AND he only has a 10% ownership.

No Brainer!

Team names please

The reason we ask for your agency name as part of your team name is because it’s the only way we can ensure that we are paying the prizes out to the correct managers and that those managers are genuinely in the recruitment industry.

With the latest hacking of our league from semi-professional FL-ers, its even more important. Please help us manage the league better by doing this.

However, those of you who aren’t putting in your team names are missing out on some great publicity for your agency and, as recruiters tend to be competitive creatures, isn’t it better to beat you rivals in business AND in the fantasy league?
