Gameweek 4 review

Are City players worth selecting?

With the bookies’ odds on City winning the title at 4/6 and Liverpool at 11/4 coupled with last season’s performance of 100 points and many more records broken it might seem like a no-brainer to get 3 of Guardiola’s stars in your squad, but we’d urge caution.

Below, we assess each of the squad and their chances of playing.

Our thoughts are that given City’s habit of conceding a goal in almost every game, the defenders and goalie are poor choices with the exception of Mendy because of his 5 assists in 4 games. David Silva isn’t hitting top Fantasy Form despite playing brilliantly and so that just leaves Aguero as the other possibility, but squeezing Kane, Aguero and Salah into one squad is a big ask

In our league, the Top 10 are as follows:

Thomas Johnson

Andy Dunne

Seamus Tunney

James Absalom

Neil Methold

Rich Nelson, Core Talent

John de Filippo

Gary Wallace

Dominic Cooke

Oli Ottey, GM

May we remind everyone that this league is for those working in the UK for a recruitment agency. Those managers who are working for an agency but working overseas are free to participate but they can’t win any prizes. Those of you not in recruitment will unfortunately have to leave the league. Sorry!

Manager of the Week

Paul Keely .......

The MOTW award is for the highest points that week for those managers on page 1. This week City fan, Paul Keely who won this award in week 1 is back again with a huge 69 points. Paul had the foresight to captain Aubameyang away at Cardiff which given that his previous points haul amounted to just 2 points per game, was an amazing show of faith in the Gabon captain.

Paul had a great week and was only let down by his City players.

Page 2 Pacesetter

Gary Butler ......

The Page 2 Pacesetter award is for the best points that week on page 2. In the event of a tie, we take the lowest placed manager.

We really do have to wonder why ManU fan, Gary Butler is languishing in 80th place when he can attain 80 points in just one week. Gary even wasted his Triple Captain chip on Aguero with just an assist all game. But Gary had quality all over the park, with his Chelsea full backs chipping in and even James Maddison who’s bagged a goal and an assist now in just 4 games.

If only he had Mane as captain!

The Best of the Rest

Ross Carmichael ....

The Best Of The Rest award is only for those managers on Pages 3 & 4 on the basis that if any managers on the lower pages get there, they’ve just had a lucky week. If there’s a tie we take the manager in the lowest place.

Way down in 115th place but with an absolutely fantastic weekly total of 74 points we find ManU fan, Ross Carmichael. Ross showed his faith in 2 goal Lukaku by captaining Aubameyang instead and we really do have to wonder why he thought that Wan-Bissaka was a better bet than Trippier? He did have our one to watch, Traore in there for 10 points though.

Well done Ross. A brilliant week.

Taxi for...........

David de Gea  ………

Last season’s highest scoring goalie and Aguero’s best mate isn’t having too good a time of it this season. It’s not his fault of course, but when The Special One puts Ander Herrera in front of him to try and make a point to Ed Woodward about transfers, all is not well in the ManU defence. We think you should….

Get him binned!

One to watch..........

Adama Traore ………

After his injury time winner at West Ham on Saturday the Birmingham Mail wrote, “Traore is an irresistible force of nature, the likes of which English football has never seen before. He’s a unique talent who’s unstoppable. Every time he got on the ball the West Ham representatives in the press box would yell, “Foul him”, but their players couldn’t get near him. Such is his speed and power, no player in the Premier League appears to be able to match him in a race.” He just needs to improve his production now but at £5.5m and less than 1% ownership, he could just be a…………

No Brainer!

Team of the Week

Every week we look at one of the best teams in the league to see where we’re all going wrong.

This week we’re going to look at Bulgaria’s Stanislav Hadzhiyski’s team. Stan is a Liverpool fan.

So, what’s his team?

Alisson

Alonso

Mendy

Luis

Walker

Milner

Neves

Mane

Hazard

Aguero

Ings

His subs were

Etheridge, Arnautovic, Gray, Holebas

Not bad eh?

Team names please

The reason we ask for your agency name as part of your team name is because it’s the only way we can ensure that we are paying the prizes out to the correct managers and that those managers are genuinely in the recruitment industry.

With the latest hacking of our league from semi-professional FL-ers, its even more important. Please help us manage the league better by doing this.

However, those of you who aren’t putting in your team names are missing out on some great publicity for your agency and, as recruiters tend to be competitive creatures, isn’t it better to beat you rivals in business AND in the fantasy league?

“Tim Goodwin is one of the very few rec-to-recs who I would wholeheartedly recommend. This is now my 20th year in recruitment and Tim has placed me in a couple of excellent positions previously. He is always contactable both in and out of office hours – and he provides excellent, sound, completely impartial advice. I have no idea how he has lasted so long in this industry with such an approach!”
